reasonably fast ride tonight
great reasonably fast ride tonight. exceptionally fun. we rode 20km around brunswick and ended up having dinner at the sporting club hotel in brunswick. a dozen riders attended. thanks paul for organising. hope to do it again 7/7 (first thurs of july)

every afternoon at 3pm we gather at the window and watch cars being towed across the rd. strangely amusing
world no tobacco day
today is world no tobacco day, a fantastic idea that should be supported. I have been a social smoker for a number of years now, but today I pledge to quit. really weird, I have had it in my mind for around a week that tuesday (today) should be the day I stop smoking. I have even posted my pledge on facebook!

it was a weekend of cycling this weekend, starting with a wonderful critical mass ride on friday night. great to hang out with old bikefun friends

trail safety notice
just passed this trail safety notice near the bike trail on a ride to williamstown. it was near scienceworks so I think its hobsons bay council
I like the second point from the bottom “no entry after dark” why would a council advise people not to use their cycling infrastructure during certain hours? most councils seem to be seriously promoting their bike paths. could they wash themselves of any responsibility if someone had an accident at night by simply putting a sign like this up?

Bikefun Full Moon Ride on the Yarra Trail last night
fantastic ride last night, my fav full moon ride for a long time (I did get bogged at the last one though…) great company, good speed and enough slidey sections to make things interesting (watching nik pilot his gazelle as it slid from one side of the track to the other was really something) thanks to nik/ned for organising
